Set among the lively terraces of rue du Portier, this restaurant by Riccardo Giraudi has all the trappings of a chic trattoria-style bistro. Against a retro-Italian backdrop of banquette seating, cane-back chairs and almond-green walls, the central kitchen – complete with a fresh pasta-making station – takes pride of place. Tribute is paid to Genoese chef Zeffirino Belloni, who popularised Ligurian pesto among the American jet set – including Frank Sinatra, after whom one of the dishes is named. Authentic Genoese pesto (basil, pine nuts, pecorino, Parmesan, olive oil and a hint of garlic) is prepared here to perfection. The lunch set menu is appealing and reasonably priced.
