A gem of biodiversity, the regional nature reserve of the Massif du Pibeste-Aoulhet is home to a wide diversity of plants and wildlife: Corsican mountain sheep and izards share their habitat with nesting birds of prey on the high limestone cliffs covered with moors and meadows. The Pic de Pibeste commands one of the finest views in the central Pyrenees. There is a magnificent panorama to the south from the television tower over the Pic du Midi de Bigorre, the Viscos and in the background, summits over 3,000m/10,000ft (Mont Perdu, Vignemale, Balaïtous).
