The name of this square which stands near to Elisabeth bridge recalls the first jour of the revolution of 1848. Below it, you can see some remains from an entrenched field from the Roman era called Contra Aquincum. It was built at the end of the 3rd Century under the reign of the Emperor Diocletes.
