It was along this lake that Henry David Thoreau experienced his life in the woods. It is possible to visit a replica of his tiny cabin (at the car park, near the main entrance). Walden Pond has become a pleasant place for swimming and fishing in summer, and for skiing and snowshoeing in winter.
