Items excavated from peat bogs, models of the port and its fishing boats, and paintings by the Dutch School all combine in this museum to introduce visitors to the rich history of East Friesland. Pride of place is given to the collection in the old weapons' rooms (Rüstkammer), with its display of knives and arms dating from the 16C to the 18C.
