The Roman archaeological town of Emperies stands on the other side of the road, on a hill overlooking the Greek town. Its rectangular plan covers approximately 50 acres. The town walls have been partially restored, but the town has yet to be fully excavated. You can see a few houses, the forum and the remains of the amphitheatre, a modest elliptical building whose stone foundations supported the tiers of wooden seats.
