A row of museums, including the Städel Museum, stands on the left bank of the Main, housed in 19C mansions or new, purpose-built buildings. The latter are harmoniously integrated into a manicured residential area. The river on one side, green spaces on the other, the whole thing makes for a pretty promenade, which is shaded by plane trees; it is particularly lively when the flea market (Flohmarkt) is on, every Saturday morning.
