Nærøyfjord, a UNESCO site and an arm of Aurlandsfjord, is the narrowest fjord of Norway, hardly wider than 250m in places and surrounded by mountains culminating in altitudes of 1 800m. Huge waterfalls crash down the mountains, producing fleeting rainbows. Small farms dotted in the hills bear witness to a traditional way of life, while birds circle above and are reflected in the emerald green water. The best way to appreciate the full beauty of this fjord is by kayak.
