A great favourite with Peruvian tourists, Pastoruri is one of the most accessible glaciers south of Huaraz and is popular all year round for skiing, snowboarding or just playing in the snow. However, here too global warming has wreaked havoc on this magnificent glacier that has already lost over half its surface area since 1995, a phenomenon which is sadly accelerating. An excursion to the glacier also offers the chance to admire glorious altiplano landscapes along the way.
