Here, displays of boats, navigational instruments and diverse artifacts acquaint visitors with the maritime history and culture of the Magdalen Islands. The exhibit also covers fishing methods and presents the story of the "ponchon," a mail barrel that was the only means of communication during February of 1910, when a severed telegraph cable resulted in the archipelago's complete isolation from the mainland.
