This royal palace, a summer residence built by Phra Narai in the 17C with the help of French architects, shows the influence of the Sun King. Dotted with seven small forts, crenellated ramparts with monumental, pointed-arched gateways surround three inner courtyards, where gardens with fountains and groves of trees were laid out in between the buildings. Make sure you visit the Chantara Phisan in the central courtyard, as well as the small museum in the Phiman Mongkut.
