A contemporary art space that is open to all current artistic forms, the Mudam was entirely conceived of by artists, whose aim is to be tuned in to international artistic endeavour and the evolution of artistic practices. The building is the work of Ieoh Ming Pei who, along with Luxemburger Georges Reuter, rose brilliantly to the challenge of integrating a contemporary space into the middle of Vauban fortifications. The Mudam presents temporary exhibitions and a few astonishing permanent works.
