This 1913 skyscraper, the tallest in the world for 17 years, has been called a cathedral to commerce and it's no wonder. Standing 792 feet and one inch in height, the tower is ornamented with the gargoyles, flying buttresses and finials you're more likely to find on Gothic churches than on downtown office buildings. The tower stands out in the relatively low-rise surroundings of Civic Center.
