The Jamtli Historieland is an open-air museum which includes over 60 buildings enabling visitors to travel back in time to the 18C and 19C. Actors in costume, animals, crops and well-maintained gardens add a note of authenticity. The Jämtland Läns Museum houses the remarkable Överhogdal tapestry, dating from the Viking era (800-1000) and depicting people, animals, surrealist creatures, trees, boats, houses etc.
