This bridge, and in particular the junction of Am Spitalbach and the Salienstrasse embankment, affords an attractive view of half-timbered houses and the apse of the old Church of St John. Mauerstrasse, as the southern embankment is called, and the island of Unterwöhrd offer a fine view of the old town, its roofs crowding around the foot of St Michael's Church, and the impressive Büchsenhaus (1527) or Neubau, a former arsenal.
