This museum of popular arts, devoted to the past and traditions of Alsace, occupies three 16C-17C houses that are worth a visit in their own right. A maze of staircases and wooden galleries around the inner courtyards leads to numerous small rooms housing collections of clothing, pictures and toys, as well as reconstructions of typical Alsace interiors, such as the laboratory of an apothecary-alchemist and wood-panelled rooms with box beds and painted wood furniture.
