De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
This pleasant, shaded park west of Toppenish takes in the grounds and surviving buildings of a frontier Army fort built in 1856 as tensions rose between the region's Indians and the settlers. In 1859 it became the Indian Agency and, later, a detested boarding school for the Yakama. The surviving buildings include a row of four wood-frame houses that stand in the shade of tall oak trees and overlook the fort's parade ground. Built for the post's officers, the homes-especially the large commandant's house-have been restored and furnished in period. Some of the other buildings, including blockhouses and an infantry barracks, have been reconstructed and remain unfurnished.
