A multitude of churches, palaces and casonas (colonial houses), such as Casa Ganoza Chopitea and its rococo portal and the elegant abode that is today home to the archaeological museum. The historic centre of Trujillo, most of whose edifices are around the Plaza de Armas, is a treat for the eye. The colourful walls are beautifully matched to the graceful flourishes of the wrought-iron railings that frame the windows, further offset by delicately carved wooden balconies.
