Taman Sari was the sultans' pleasure palace. Although seriously damaged over the years, it has retained the old-fashioned charm of a residence devoted to relaxation and meditation. According to legend, a secret passageway leads to the ocean's edge. Look out for the three pools: one for women and children, one for concubines and one for the sultan. Do not miss the "underground mosque" (Sumur Gumuling), actually a sort of atrium whose walls are covered in moss.
