Only the power trio of Chefs Ludo Lefebvre, Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo could make a unique take on French-Mexican food work here in LA. The prices are downright affordable when compared to their other restaurants, like Animal or Trois Mec. The décor is a simple mix of blue-and-white rattan chairs set around marble tables, with modern indie and 70's funk music keeping company with the eclectic aura. While the concept may sound fusion, it is more of a classical French rendition of Mexican favorites. Double-decker tacos may be folded with brown-butter mashed potatoes, marinated carrots and crème fraîche. Since it started as a brunch spot before expanding to lunch and dinner, many dishes survived the transition. The churro French toast remains a revelation.
