The view from the summit of the Puy de Montchal (alt. 1 411m) is well worth taking in: Monts Dore massif, Monts Dôme, the Vallées des Couzes and Vallée de la Comté, Mont du Livradois and the Forez. In the foreground: the Puy and Lac du Montcineyre, then the Cézallier. To access the Puy de Montachal, allow 1hr 30min by foot (round trip), either from the south of Lac Pavin or from the end of the Chemin des Fraux.
