Overlooking the Tagus, the former headquarters of the military order of Alcántara, built in the 16C, has been restored. The church boasts a plethora of Plateresque decoration (star-shaped vaults), a Gothic patio and outside, an elegant arcaded Renaissance gallery, overlooking an amphitheatre, where drama performances are staged.
