As you come into Samanpazari, you enter a lively working class district comprising a maze of steep alleyways lined with dozens of small shops selling spices, basketwork and skeins of wool. This quarter is typical of old Ankara and is still full of charm, despite the proliferation of tourist-orientated second-hand shops which detract somewhat from the overall atmosphere.
