From this the furthermost bridge of the island downstream, enjoy a fine view over the banks of the River Regnitz and the half-timbered houses of the fishermen's quarter, affectionately named "Little Venice" by Maximilian II. The setting is particularly attractive, with its balconies, tiny gardens and moorings for small boats. In August every year, it provides the backdrop for the Sandkerwa folk festival, featuring a nautical jousting competition and Italian evening.
