Beschrijving
Restored at great expense by Norman Foster, the controversial "new" Reichstag has nothing in common with the old building which was riddled with bullets and stood alone and abandoned next to the Wall. The new steel and glass dome, unveiled in 1999, is a symbol of democratic transparency. Two spiral staircases wind around an upturned cone covered with mirrors. The cone extends as far as the semi-circular political chamber, creating a pool of light. The dome boasts stunning views of the city.
