A cardinal, a secretary to Leo X, a friend of Raphael and the first ever comedy-writer for the Italian theatre, Bernardo Dovizi, who was known best by the name of the town Bibbiena, was born in Bibbiena. He had this palace built here, which is one of the most elegant palaces you will ever see, despite its simple brick facing and its relative sobriety.
