After displaying its collections by theme for over a decade, this museum with unusual wooden, steel and glass architecture has rearranged its collections with a greater chronological focus. Visitors now have a better overall view of the history, culture and art of the Rhineland. The prehistory section is remarkable, and boasts an interesting Celtic sandstone stele from the 4C BC. The mosaic of the sun god, a masterpiece of Roman art, is of particular interest.
