The Palácio do Planalto, the official workplace of the president, is located on the north side of the Three Powers Square. Its white marble columns partly mirror the form of those of the Palácio da Alvorada. They are placed perpendicular to the façade, making the building look as if it were built on piles. Note the building's asymmetry, both in the columns and the position of the ramp, which creates the effect of alternate volume and void. Inside the palace are works by Ceschiatti, Burle Marx and Bulcão.
