Beschrijving

The current monastery was built in 1702 by Danilo I Petrović-Njegoš, after the old one was burned down by the Turks. A small votive church marks its location today. The importance of the monastery in the life of Cetinje and Montenegro is obviously down to the role of the vladika: the prince-bishop, who held temporal and religious power, resided there.
