The central market alone justifies a stop in the town of Chau Doc. Covering several blocks and extending down to the river, it is one of the best provisioned in Southern Vietnam as well as being one of the most photogenic. Although it is supplied with many products from Cambodia and Thailand, it also sells numerous regional specialities such as dried fish, tamarind paste, coconut- and mango-flavoured sweets, palm sugar, lotus seeds and sugar palm fruit. A real feast for the senses!
