From Da Nang, hire a vehicle with a driver to explore the peninsula of Son Tra, still very unspoiled and partially a military zone. You will be greeted by a 67m/220ft-tall white Buddha before you reach Linh Ung pagoda which commands a fine view over Da Nang Bay and still has a few giant bonsais. Continue onwards and admire the countryside which is very abrupt at times, alternating between dense vegetation and dappled green light on one side and the turquoise blue reflections of the China Sea on the other.
