The idealist Chautauqua movement encouraged retreats to nurture body, mind and spirit. This park opened in 1898 with tent lodgings and two buildings that are still standing: the Auditorium (venue for the Colorado Music Festival) and the Dining Room (a restaurant). Trails head up to the high prairies of the Flatirons and the 13 400ha/33 110-acre Boulder Mountain Parks. You can also drive along the winding route from Baseline Road to numerous scenic viewpoints.
