Beschrijving

Some 30km/18mi to the west of Strasbourg, Mutzig Fort is an impressive example of fortified architecture dating from the late 19C. During World War I, the firepower of the German fort prevented the French troops from gaining access to the Alsace plain and forced the soldiers to fight on the heights of the Vosges. A tour of the site, organised by a Franco-German association, acquaints the visitor with the changes to the fort and the progress made by heavy artillery.
