The long, broad Gastein Valley is one of Austria's most attractive resort destinations. Staggered over three villages (Dorfgastein, 830m above sea level, Bad Hofgastein, 860m, and Badgastein, 1 000m), it grew into a major spa centre from the 15C. In an exceptional setting surrounded by medium to high-altitude mountains, it also offers a superb skiing area in winter and draws walkers in summer.
