The current university occupies the old Jesuit university. The buildings are arranged around the General Studies cloister, a graceful courtyard surrounded by a gallery of Italian Renaissance-style arcades (16C). The classrooms, which open onto the galleries, are decorated with 18C azulejos depicting subjects relating to the disciplines taught.
