Climb this grassy hillock to the west of Foix as far as the foundations of the former beacon. The panorama embraces the peaks of Haut-Couserans, as far as the border mountain range. From the summit of the Portel, the old path that loops round the road will take you down to the Coulat fountain in a few minutes, which is a perfect picnic spot.
