The Costa Verde owes its name to the colour of the ocean and its verdant inland landscapes. The grandiose landscapes of the Picos de Europa, the peaks of which are snow-clad for much of the year, mark its limit a long way to the east. Dotted with attractive villages and sandy beaches sheltering in pretty creeks, the Asturian coast has much in common with Brittany, both in terms of its gastronomy, based around fish and seafood, its festivals and its unpredictable weather.
