An unrivalled architectural masterpiece, technical feat, the first Seventh Wonder of the World, the oldest pyramid... there is no shortage of superlatives for the Great Pyramid. It was also the highest (today 138m) and had the greatest volume (2 521 000m3), in order to make the mortal remains of Khufu inviolable. Try and picture it gleaming white as it used to be with its limestone covering. Portcullises obstructing the corridors protected the burial chambers. One of these gave access to the Grand Gallery. Bear in mind that ticket sales are limited to 300 each day.
