Beschrijving

Set in a huge park, Grafenegg castle is the most striking example of the historical romantic style found in Austria. Located on the Tulln plain, its keep has a balcony and turrets that when viewed from a distance have a dreamlike quality. Its current appearance is due to Count August Ferdinand Breunner-Enckevoirt who took a risk in using this new historicist style. Its success is thanks to the cathedral architect Leopold Ernst who worked on it from 1846 to 1853.
