A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the walls of Constantinople extend for 7km and divide the southern peninsula from the European bank. They were built under Theodosius II to replace the previous wall by Emperor Constantine. Bristling with towers, they draw a line through the urban fabric and boast some fine gates: Charisius, Hebraica - incorporated into Yeni Camii, Topkapı, Belgrade...
