Iznik Lake extends across the foot of the town and out to the west. It stretches for 30km between two low mountain ranges, and boasts some magnificent vistas. Picnic areas and restaurants have been set up on its banks, and it is unquestionably the most pleasant place for a relaxing lunch in the city. It's also possible to swim here, although the water can be cool, even in summer.
