In addition to its glittering icy peaks (such as the impressive Kitzsteinhorn), Kaprun valley offers the other-worldly spectacle of its superimposed lakes acting as dams. These hydroelectric structures are amongst the most impressive engineering feats in Austria, as the spectacular Limberg dam demonstrates. But Kaprun is also one of the most wonderful ski resorts in Europe and a vast leisure centre. The beautiful countryside also offers any number of hikes.
