Beschrijving

This fortress, located close to the legendary spur of Lorely, is called the Pfalzgrafenstein. Originally a toll fortress, it rises from the centre of the Rhine in a superb island setting. The keep, encircled by a wall of towers, is suggestive of a boat. A little further on is another delightful spot, Oberwesel, overshadowed by the ruins of Schönburg Castle.
