Built in 1819 as the seat of the British High Commissioner, the neo-Classical palace of St Michael and St George has a Doric colonnade with 32 columns. It became a royal Greek residence in 1864 and nowadays houses an interesting Museum of Asian Art, which exhibits the vast ceramics collections of two Greek diplomats. One of the rooms presents a very well-documented history of Japanese civilisation.
