Praktische informatie

Beschrijving

The local museum contains manuscripts of Wordsworth and Southey, but also an unusual musical instrument. Invented and built (between 1830 and 1843) by Joseph Richardson, it is known as the musical stones of Skiddaw, a sort of "mineral xylophone". It was such a success that Richardson was invited to play before Queen Victoria and toured in France, Germany and Italy.
