The Beinn Eighe and Loch Maree National Nature Reserve, the first of its kind in Great Britain, encompasses the massive mountainous ridge of Beinn Eighe (visible from a window of the centre), together with the remains of the original forest of Scottish pine. The Visitor Centre has a model of the region between Loch Alsh and Loch Broom, which depicts the main points of interest of this unspoiled territory that stretches over 4,760ha.
