Situated in the heart of Macao, Senado Square is highly popular with its outdoor terraces, delightful fountain and enchanting pastel-coloured colonial architecture. In addition to the lavish São Domingo church, one of the most striking buildings is the large white Leal Senado (1789), which is typically Portuguese in style. Now the Institute of Civil and Municipal Affairs, the azulejo-tiled patio of the building is open to the public.
