Villa Reale belonged at different periods to Elisa Baciocchi, Napoleon Bonaparte's sister; the Dukes of Parma; the Grand Dukes of Tuscany; King Victor-Emmanuel II; Prince Charles, brother of the King of the Two Sicilies; and the Counts of Pecci-Blunt. The huge 17C gardens are home to a delightful outdoor theatre adorned with statues, niches, steps and sculpted yew trees.
