Mt Aigoual is the highest peak (1 567m) in the Cévennes mountain range. It may often have its head in the clouds, but the rest of the time it commands an extensive panoramic view stretching over impressive gorges, such as Dourbie, Jonte and Trévezel. The roads through the Aigoual mountains are superb, running through the forests that carpet the slopes or along ridges that command broad views.
