This gigantic open-cast mine is over 1 000m long, 900m wide and 350m deep. A platform built on the edge commands dramatic plunging views into the crater, which is traversed by very straight seams and divided into terraces that reveal the different cross-sections of the terrain. In the nearby mining facilities, the iron ore is transported away in enormous lorries.
